Most of the front range Gillis clan got together today for a mini reunion. 

It has been a long time since we have seen everybody and it was wonderful!  Good turn out!  Lots to keep the kids busy, not so food focused that you forget everything else, and lots of time to catch up.  We cleaned up extra good so that they might let us do it here again next year!

Yes , I jumped up and down too .  I even had "map my ride" going, the mileage would be more if it could have counted the vertical feet . 

I must say, these guys are pretty fun to hang out with, you know, for teenagers.  👍

May 14, 2016 - Why so melancholy?

I reminded Mom a few weeks ago that she might just be feeling down because of the time of year.  This is when dad died.  How long ago now? (always seems like the answer should be 2 years or so . . .) 6. 6 years now.  And then good old Facebook pops up with their "remember when" picture. He was OK with going on to his next adventure, but he also wanted to get up out of that bed and come home for more time with us.  Miss you every day Dad!  I need to remind myself today - "Happy for the time we got to have you here",   "Happy for the time we got to have you here"- like a mantra.

Spring break 2016

Ah !  We have just returned home from a weeks vacation.  Unplugged, relaxed, just our little family in a cabin in Angel fire New Mexico.  The ski area had already closed for the season, we hiked one day, but it snowed the next few days , just enough to keep us from hiking.  So, cooking, playing cards, and general together time.  It was good for us - forced to slow down.  We felt like the only people there, and drove to Taos several times to shop and eat.

When we got home -  Yes, I admit that right after greeting the dog and the cat, out came the technology!

We now have the weekend to enjoy being home, and I have the magical 2nd week to look forward to !  

LIFE IS GOOD!

Oh Cali!

Today at the dog park, we played and played and played, walked the big loop, and just as we were coming down the home stretch, this giant Newfie came loping toward Cali, in what looked to me like a very friendly manner.  Cali takes off running, making a huge circle around  -"YIPE," (he never got within 20 feet of her).  She doesn't stop running!  She was out the gate and hiding behind the car waiting for me.  Oh Cali!  You great big chicken!
