Spring break 2014

Day 1

You sir, are no help at all.

So we are off to Estes Park.  Cute little cabin/condo we are cutting it short to get back for uncle bobs funeral.  But, alittle relaxing family together time is great.

The elk are everywhere!  This is the field next to us.  We speculate that they seed it with elk-nip so that the tourists will slow down to check it out.

Day 2.  What shall we do today ?
Glen haven drive to see the flood damage.  Claire's for lunch , and half of the Harry potter s - I guess a half marathon!

I  starting to feel I should be home with extended family - so it will be hard to ake it until tiesday.    Trying to enjoy the short break, before getting into receiving the relativesode.  The Gillises Are a lovely bunch, so it will be a pleasure - just missing uncle bob.

So the deer passed the clubhouse as if on queue this morning,

and the girls vetoedy "hey!  We. Could take the goat tour of the Stanley Hotel!"  (I don't even know that they have one 😄

They won't even go to dinner there
More tomorrow.

Just another day

I have decided that the merits of blogging far out weigh those of Facebook - and so I'm just going to share my photos of the day here.  A good friends 50th was definate lye the highlight !  Thanks Jacqui - for being part of my families life, that we got to participate.  Actually, we were even sent home with a beautiful bouquet of flowers - I'd take a picture , but they are out in the garage.  Apparently Kevin's just a touch allergic.

If your gonna quote Master Oogway the turtle, you should at least get it right

Yesterdays late afternoon administrator/parent meeting, the professional development, and tonight's Linguistics class have me feeling . . .  . reflective !!!

glow    glow   glow

Pedagogy.

Granular.

The How

and

the What.

Miss-quoted turtles. . . .

some times it's fun being a teacher, and some times it's just funny.

Is it

"let's leave history a mystery and remember that today's a present"

or

"yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery; but today is a gift.  That's why they call it the present."

I was crying I was laughing so hard over that one!

Good night.

The positive thing about TCAP

TCAP - my kids have it this week and they are delighted to not have any homework.

I had it at VPP last week.  For me, it was mostly a cloud , but there was 1 little silver lining.

So I'm actively proctoring 19 in my room.  I have the Extra Time bunch, and nobody uses the extra time so it's just EXTRA brutal.  I know all of the students.  Excellent.  One new student, kinda surly, no evident friends, doesn't talk much and hates all things school.  Brutal.  So, when you're done with your test the only option you have is to silently read a book, or sit at your desk.  She look particularly bored, so I offered to grab a book from my library for her.  She grunted, so I took the liberty of bringing her a book.  I guessed Janet Evonovich - Plum Spooky.

By the 3rd test session, she was completely engrossed in it!  I could see her laughing, smiling.  We talked about the book at break, she asked to borrow it.  She may have rushed through the test to get to read some more. (Nah - I didn't say that.)  I wonder if it's her first.  Mine was (Embarrassingly enough) the shining by Stephen king.

At the end of TCAP session 8, I promised to look and see if I had any others at home.  TCAP isn't all bad,

Clap along if you know what happiness means to you. . .

I imagine I'll get real sick of this song some day soon, but for now, I'm really enjoying the breaking into smiles, and dance moves and singing when ever it comes on:

Pharrell Williams "Happy" (from Despicable Me 2)

For Abigails birthday, she wanted to go paint with her best buddy Isabelle, and her Sisters Caitlin and (honorary sister) Victoria.  They had a sleep over and . .  . just a blast.  They are a fun bunch of girls!  C and V went to Girl Power last night through their church group, I got to be wined and dinned by my girlfriends.  Feeling very blessed indeed!  They continue to have a blast while I sit here, getting ready to do some catch-up school work.  It's cold out there and I am hunkered down under my blankie for the rest of the day. ;)

Tomorrow we make a cake with snow white frosting and a pack of wolves decorating the top in the grande finale of Abigail's Birthday week.

What’s all the fuss

im blogging to see if a few years from now this was really the beginning of the end for PPG. As I think it is.  I have to stay off Facebook ...
